Nicola Laudati’s work focuses on the methods of release technique andfloor work and aims at beginning a research towards an organic and homogeneous unity of movement. Laudati believes that the fundamental means to start an instructive and creative research directed towards an innovative work are both deconstruction of the body and consciousness of the physical mass in relation to space.
The choreographer is interested in a project which aims to develop an organic unity of the movement, as far as technique and expressiveness are concerned. His purpose is to achieve a direct and spontaneous communication, far from a merely aesthetic result.
Starting from the floor work, the activity develops itself towards each level in the space, to end in a detailed technical study of the handstand (anatomical knowledge, spine posture, three-dimension and dynamism), experimenting the limits of the body itself and considering every possible meaning of them.
Shaping a prepared/technical body, which could be suitable for performances, basically means that it is possible to have a greater control over communication and a deeper sensitivity on the action.
Laudati is convinced that dance is essentially body communication and that dramatization itself lies and has to be found in the body. As this process transcends technique, he believes that the performer alone is constantly able to outline the boundaries of the body and to sublimate its sense.
